Your Questions About Weight Loss Plans For Men

George asks…

What was the last straw to make you lose weight?

I am at the point in my life that if I do not do something about my health and weight now, it will never happen and I am going to die. I am 30, still young enough, but 150 pounds overweight. I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have tried everything and the only thing that works is eating well and exercising. I just can’t stick with it. I make it a couple of weeks, then give up. I have hired personal trainers and the whole deal. What needs to happen to make this happen. Help please, I am on my last leg.

Maricela answers:

Well, that’s a healthy attitude. You obviously aren’t committed enough if you feel that you are going to die but still won’t stick with a plan for more than a couple of weeks.

Okay, in all seriousness, here are my suggestions:

1) Ditch the personal trainers. Those are for thin people. If you want to get regular exercise without exerting yourself too much or causing yourself a lot of pain, just take half-hour walks three times a week. As you get used to exercising, you can up not only the number of times you go out, but also how long you walk. It’s easy, low-impact exercise which can make a surprising change in your lifestyle.

2) Start cutting out greasy, high-fat foods from your diet, including any kind of fast food (especially burgers, fried chicken, and pizza), chips, and rich desserts.

3) Start including things like delicious fruit (watermelon and pineapple in particular are in season right now), and a salad at least once a day. They will provide you with the nutrients you need on top of helping you to feel full and satisfy your need for munchies.

4) Also, drink things like bottled water, diet soda, fruit juice, and nonfat milk instead of high-calorie sodas or beer.

5) Try joining Weight Watchers. More and more men are joining these days, I’ve noticed. The new Flex Plan teaches still teaches portion control but with the added benefit of personalizing your eating plan by gender, height, age, and physical activity as well as weight. Moreover, you’ll be in a group setting, which will help you to remember that you’re all in it together.

6) Finally, if you can, make a friend who can help you with your weight loss; a man or woman who is also dedicated to shedding extra pounds. You can reinforce one another and share your experiences.

I’m actually a Weight Watchers member myself. Though it is important to admit that this is my third time back, this is also the heaviest I have ever been (I am about 70 pounds overweight, give or take). I’m tired of not fitting in my favorite clothes, and that’s why I decided to really commit myself this time.

The truth about losing weight is that it has to be YOUR decision. YOU have to decide to make the changes that are necessary for a long, healthy life. It’s one thing if you slip — we all make mistakes. But it’s quite another to give up completely.

How can I loose weight fast for Prom?

ok, prom is coming up, May 16th to be exact, and i really wanna loose some weight so i can look at least half-ways decent in a dress. Anyone have some fast weight loss tips?

Maricela answers:

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Thank you so much!

Maricela answers:

First off, have a great time at the prom! Secondly, you want to get to that lower weight doing it healthy. 1200 is a reasonable amount of calories, but I’m pretty sure those calories are not coming from all the nutrients your body needs. You don’t want your weight loss coming to a crashing halt! I know all about the crazy diets out there. You don’t have to spend ANY money on a quick fix or gimmick that may not work or work only for a few weeks. I have been on a natural eating plan and I lost 50 pounds in about 5 months. You’re younger, it may be faster. I also incorporated lots of exercise to burn more fat. This way of eating is called Paleo, or the Cave Diet. Eat everything your ancestors ate! If mother nature made it, eat it, if man made it, don’t touch it! It’s as simple as that. Go to the Cave Diet link below. You will lose weight, feel happier, glow from the inside out. Good luck!

Does Weight Loss Reduce the Visibility of Stretch Marks for men?

I’m 16 years old, male and have stretch marks on my stomach. They appeared after I gained a lot of weight and have made my life a misery for the past 9 months. I really want to loose weight (3 stone) and build up my muscle, but I’m worried it will make them worse.

1. Can loosing weight for men reduce the visibility of stretch marks?

2. Can weight loss after weight gain and muscle build up make stretch marks worse?

Maricela answers:

Stretchmarks occur when your skin has been stretched for a long period.
If you are planning to lose weight you’d be better off doing it while you are young since your skin is more flexible then when you are older. (so less stretchmarks)
However if you have stretchmarks you shouldnt be ashamed of it, wear them as a token of pride over a nicely sculpted sixpack 😛
Im not sure but maybe you could remove or at least partially remove some stretchmarks by tanning, some sort of laser treatment or maybe surgery (altough surgery is often for people that have lost SO much weight that they have something of 20 pounds of skin hanging)
Just keep the positive additude up and in no time you’ll be a 16yo Adonis ^^
