Maricela answers:

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Steven asks…

I would like to lose 2 lbs a week, my goal is to lose 30 in 12 weeks, any suggestions?

My plan is to do 45 min of cardio (spinning) in the morning, and i will lift weights in the afternoon 4 times a week. My meal plan is around 1500 calories, i currently weigh 135, am 5’5 and 20 yrs old. Im very small boned so this is alot of extra weight on my frame. How do i keep the weight loss going, and any ideas for my lower stomach, hips, and thighs?

Maricela answers:

Lower hips, abs, thighs…. Nothing you can do specifically for those regions. Your body will shed fat from wherever it wants, you can’t “spot reduce”.

It’s hard to believe that 5’5″ and 105 is healthy though, that seems really low. I’d get my body fat percentage checked (either a doctor or most gyms can do it) and base my goals upon that.

1500 calories, 2,000 calories, 900 calories… It’s not nearly as important as what kind of calories you take on.

Focus on lean proteins (like chicken breast) and eat your carbs in the morning (to get you fueled for the day) and again in the afternoon 1-2hrs before your workout.

For the average person who is actually overweight, 2lbs a week is doable, but it’s on the high end of ideal. For you, man I think it’s a stretch. But if you really work hard you’ll probably do it. Make sure you aaren’t losing too much though, that just seems like a lot.

Donna asks…

What are some tips to lose weight in a healthy way?

I’m pretty good at staying consistent with things, but I don’t want to lose weight the wrong way… I can cut out all sodas and fast food and am also working out three times a week. I would just like to know certain common mistakes or aids for weight loss! thanks

David asks…

Does anyone know of any good weight loss programs, diets or pills?

Im a mom of 2 and i know i am about 100lbs overweight. I have no reason to be this big. I have excersice videos but I loose like 2 to 3lbs and then i gain it right back. So i was wondering if anyone knew of any good weight loss programs, diets or pills? I saw the ad for the HCG drop and I was also wondering if anyone knew if the drops were good. I also want the weight gone by the fall I plan to have a wedding then. Thanks and serious answers only.

Maricela answers:

Are you using the drops?
A 500 calorie per day diet is considered anorexic. Mix it with a hormone from pregnant women’s urine and you get a miracle diet!
All over the counter hcg products were announced as illegal and fraudulent by the FDA on January 24, 2011. Testing concluded that all over the counter oral and injection products on the market have little to no real hcg in them but most a similar synthetic hormone. I was in GNC last week. They carry three brands of hcg drops and not one of them has any hcg in them. The well trained salesman even admitted it when I mentioned it. They contained “similar hormones” or amino acids.
Anyone that lost weight especially with the drops did it because they ate fewer calories than they burned. The hcg acted as the placebo to help them lose the weight.
The only approved use for hcg is to increase fertility in both men and women.
Next year will mark 60 years since this fraudulent science was started.
The doctors exploiting this benign hormone with the ability to prescribe injections can’t even agree on how it works. Some say it releases stored fat calories into the system. Others say it acts as an appetite suppressant.
Neither explanation justifies the weight loss in the individuals taking the oral drops with NO hcg in them that still lost weight. I am confident the hcg diet has a 95% failure rate just like every other controversial diet plan out there.
By the way, the expensive “clinical injections” are not covered by insurance since it is not FDA approved. What doctor wouldn’t want to get an “all cash” practice going?
Check out these clips before going further. Just aired a few months ago.

So the question is are you willing to risk your health with an extreme diet treatment based on testimonial evidence as opposed to clinical research evidence, and the statements from doctors in this all cash business?

Mandy asks…

How long does it take to get slim?

I tried diets and everything and I only lose 2 pounds! That’s not fair! How come men have less trouble with weight loss than women do? I’m like 5’10” and now weigh 266lbs. What should my weight be?

Maricela answers:

It took me a year to lose 30lbs. It’s not easy and it takes a lot of discipline to stay focused. You must exercise atleast 30mins per day or an hour 3to4 days week, plus drink lots of water or lemon water. Make sure you follow a diet plan you can handle. If you fall off, get back into it the next day. Don’t give up on trying to get to a healthy weight. You can check your BMI at http://www.webmd.com/diet/calc-bmi-plus.
Good Luck!
