What foods are best to eat if you want to build muscle and lose fat?

I’m mixing cardio and weight lifting to have better all around health. There are foods for weight loss and different foods for muscle gain, sometimes they contradict each other (example potatoes). What are the best foods?

Maricela answers:

Protein + energy (any source) + weight lifting will lead to an increase the rate of protein synthesis which will help build muscle tissue a little more each day.

Food alone, can do the trick, however.

Eat frequently, every 2-3 hours daily, to keep muscle protein synthesis at the optimal levels

Best post-workout drink would be milk.

How can I reward myself for weight loss besides food?

i obviously dont want to reward with food because its weight loss, but i dont know what to reward myself with that is more exciting than a new coat or a new nail polish, you know? So what are your ideas? thanks so much!!

Just buy some really good looking clothes, a dress maybe, thats a size too small for you. Then when you lose weight you’ll be able to fit in it and feel really proud! 🙂

Anything organic and fillling w/little amounts of calories and grams of fat…and special k products

Portion control
that is key.. An more natural foods, an more vegetables an proteins
an lean proteins

tuna, salmon, chicken breast, eggs, lentels, brown rice, rye bread, oatmeal

How does buckwheat help lose weight if it has so many calories?

In one cup, it has 583 calories. How could it possibly help you lose weight? Obviously if you burn the calories, you are left with alot of good nutrition from the food, but overall I eat around 1000 calories. I lose only like 300-400 cals a day at the gym. I dont get it. Please explain. Also, are there any good weight loss foods, possibly low calorie! 🙂

No such thing as a healthy food, only a diet geared towards your goals. Not one food will make you lose weight, it’s about your diet as a whole and burning more calories than you eat.
