Your Questions About Teenage Weight Loss For Girls

Thomas asks…

What’s the best way for a teenage girl to loss weight?

I’m 16, I’m also a teenage mom. I had my son two months ago and I’m not sure the best way to loss the weight I gained. Im currently 160lbs and I’d like to get down to 135. I didn’t have the best diet before my pregnancy and I don’t right now either. I plan on making a permenant lifestyle change so I can be healthy and help keep my son healthy when he gets older. Any tips or anything would be great. Thank you ahead of time.

Maricela answers:

I think you should ask your doctor, maybe she has a special plan/diet but I think its good that you’re starting right now because it’s much more easier to lose weight at a younger age and start these healthy habits sooner so you’ll get accustomed to then quicker. For now I’d say, try not to snack as much (chips, cookies, crackers), exercise (sit ups, etc.) and drink lots of water (since you’ll be exercising you don’t want to get dehydrated). Hope I helped, good luck 🙂

How do I lose wieght without pills or a gym membership?

How do I lose wieght without pills or a gym membership? Follow this and see results.

1. Decrease your daily caloric intake by 500 calories to lose between 1 and 2 lbs. Each week. While counting calories may be slower than powerful diet pills, it is a safe, natural and sure way of shedding pounds. As a general rule, if you are inactive you should take in about 2,000 calories a day. If you are more active, you can eat up to 2,500 calories and still lose weight.

2. Burn more calories than you eat by adding 30 minutes of brisk exercise to your daily routine. Your choice of exercise will depend on your body type, weight and personal preference. For people carrying 100 extra pounds or more, a simple stroll through the park or cleaning the house is probably enough to burn the extra calories. If you are only trying to lose that last five pounds, you may be better off with weight training, aerobics or jogging.

3. Eat a wide variety of foods that include all of the vitamins and minerals your body needs to maintain balance and metabolism. Fresh fruits and vegetables are your best source of calories, while trans fats, saturated fats as well as refined flours and sugars should be avoided.

4. Expect slow results if you want permanent results. While some diet pills offer fast and dramatic weight loss, it is not healthy for your body to lose more than 10 pounds per month. The faster the weight comes off, the less likely you will be able to keep it off. Persistence, lifestyle change and a healthy diet are the best ways to lose weight naturally and safely without dangerous diet pills.

What is the best workout routine to get a flat belly?

Im a teenage girl and im fairly thin, but i would like to be a little healthier/fit, mainly a flat stomach. I know that you gotta do the typical sit up/ push up stuff. But i have a busy scehdule with homework, dance, school, and church activites, so i need a quick (EFFECTIVE) workout routine that will help me out. Suggestions? Thanks to those who answer:)

Maricela answers:

There’s a saying: abs are made in the fridge, not in the gym… If you want a flat stomach, or your abs to show, then you need to get your body fat percentage around the 15% mark (10% mark for guys). This can only be achieved through a sustainable diet.
Try these few simple principles, and stay clear of fad and crash diets: http://www.fitness666.com/2012/06/weight-loss-made-easy.html
There are a number of workouts that target your abs, but because you cannot spot reduce fat (you cannot target a particular area of the body for fat reduction ; when you lose fat, you lose it all over), unless you do these in conjunction with a calories deficit diet, you will grow strong abs, but they will be hidden beneath a layer of fat. That said, working your abs will definitely help you add definition once you get there. Try this workout, it’s excellent, and it will work your core like there’s no tomorrow: http://www.fitness666.com/2012/07/abs-and-core-progressions.html
