How do you lose weight after pregnancy?

My son is now two and I have been trying to lose weight since I have had my baby. During my pregnancy I gain around 65 pounds; my pre-pregnancy weight was 135. Right now I am 160 and still trying my best t get to at least 140 but it’s so hard. As for my tummy, while it’s not saggy, it’s not as firm as it was before I had my son. Are there any tips that I can follow as it relates to changing my excercise regimen (I do at least 3 times a week: 20 minutes on the stair climber, 20 minutes on the tredmill, and at least 30 miuntes weight training and abdominal work) and diet.

I know that I lost a lot of weight (85lbs) by keeping a food journal along with daily exercise. A good free site is You can keep track of your nutrition requirements, calories, and the exercise that you do as well as a bunch of other things. I found measuring my food and knowing and sticking to true serving sizes to be a tremendous help. You can’t lose the weight if you are overeating. One last bit of advice… I would say that making little changes each week like adding a vegetable to every meal or making sure you eat a high fiber, high protein breakfast each day will go a long way to help with your overall nutrition.

Is it normal to lose weight during pregnancy?

I am 15 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and seem to be slowly losing weight instead of gaining it. I haven’t been puking but have been nauseous and haven’t had an appetite. I try to eat as much as I can though. With my other pregnancies I gained almost 40lbs! But I was also 120lbs to start with. With this one I am 150lbs. Has anyone had this happen? I am just worried something may be wrong. My Dr also said I was measuring big.

Yes, this can be normal for some women. Your appetite should be back by 20 weeks. If there becomes an issue with the lack of weight, your doctor will tell you. Just make sure you are taking your pre-natals and drinking plenty of water.

I’ve heard of women who have become pregnant but lost weight during the pregnancy not gained it as normal. Is this possible and if so how does it work and why does it happen?

Yeah its very possible. There are some women who can’t even tell their pregnant even if they took a test.

How do you lose weight after many surgeries?

I need help trying to find a solution to losing weight. I have had two pregnancy‘s, 3 hernia surgeries, and one cancer surgery in my stomach. I have tried numerous weight-loss programs and nothing helps even if I stick with it. What else is there besides weight-loss surgery? I do not want to go that route..I’m 39 and beyond ready to get on with my life.

I just had my daughter 3 months ago And am pregnant again, My problem is i was sick threw my last pregnancy and gained way too much weight, And i am extremely over weight now, 241lbs.

First off, do not try and lose weight without consulting your doctor. There may be complications as you need to obtain a well balanced diet and provide extra nutrients for your upcoming baby.

Your local dietician can help you too. But be sure you let them know you’re pregnant looking to maintain and lose weight properly.
