Robert asks…

What is a good way 2 exercise without losing weight?

I want to exercise without losing weight,in fact i want to gain weight in the asses.

Maricela answers:

If you are trying to maintain your weight while getting toned the best way to do it is to consume the same amount of calories as you burn, a good way I know how to burn the same amount of calories you consume is to keep a log of what you eat and how many calories it has, and a very good website for calorie amounts in foods and how many calories an exercise works off in my opinion is and if you want to just gain a little weight the way to do it is to work off less calories that you consume, but this is not a good way to gain weight because fat will build around your muscles, but you can do exercises including leg lifts and I believe lunges can help tone your bottom. And I would also like to say that gaining weight and losing weight does not necessarily mean getting fatter because weight can also be gained in muscle mass, which is a good thing for your body.

What is the difference between losing weight and losing inches?

I’ve been working out and I’ve lost 6 lbs, and I notice a significant weight loss and saw some loss of inches in my waist; and I was going to go to a spa and I wanted to get a “European Body Wrap”, and they have said that the body wrap doesn’t make you lose weight, it just gets rid of inches. So what is the difference? I thought by losing weight you also lost inches, I didn’t think they were two different things.

Maricela answers:

Ok girl I’ll lay this one out for you. Losing weight is just losing overall weight, like going from 120 to 116. Losing inches mean you may weigh the same but its just distributed differently, like your waist goes from 22″ to 20″ but you still weight 120. Hope this helps!

How to lose weight with a sluggish thyroid?

I have early stage graves disease and it has made losing weight one of the most annoying and frustrating things ever. I have cut out fast food, eat less chocolate, eaten more healthier foods, I walk everyday and nothing. I have maybe lost two pounds but I need to lose more than that.

Maricela answers:

Trying to lose weight with an underworking thyroid is like a bird trying to fly without wings. Remember, thyroids regulate the speed of your metabolism, and this is crucial to ensure an effective use of foods and distribution of macronutrients in your system.

There are things wich use you should decrease, while there are other things you should remove permanently if you want to see results. By the way, chocolate, coffe, dairies, eggs, soy, cabbgae, broccoli and its whole family, white sugar, fried foods, sodas and high-stress proteins should be completely removed form your diet.

Duvet, dare to go on raw foods for at least 45 days. You will not regret it. When you do so, more than 300 enzymatic complexes in your body will be reset, and chances are that your thyroid may respond fantastically to it. One thing I know: you’ll be benefitted greatly, even if your thyroids do not recover 100%.

Vitamin B6, Iodine from natural sources (kelp, seaweed, etc.), Magnesium, and–since you have Grave’s Disease–an immune modulator like Transfer Factor Plus or others similar, will help you great deal.

Good luck! 🙂

How long does it take for breasts to shrink after losing weight?

I really want mine to get smaller. I have been losing weight in a healthy way for 3 weeks now.

Maricela answers:

Your weight generally drops off wherever you pick it up fastest. For example, if your a pear shaped person you pick up weight more rapidly on your buttocks and thighs. Meaning when you lose weight that’s where it drops of first.

What is the difference between losing weight and losing inches?

Can ssomeone please tell me what the difference is between losing weight and losing inches. I was advised that working out on the treadmill loses inches and not weight but isn’t that the same thing?

Also what are Cardio machines?..does a stepper count as a Cardio machine?

Thanks ;o)

Maricela answers:

Losing weight means losing pounds, while losing inches means losing size, or getting smaller. Often times when people increase their exercise, they do not lose much weight but end up losing inches. This is because muscle is heavier than fat, but takes up less room. This is why size measurement are usually more accurate than weight. Working out on the treadmill you could lose both inches and weight, but since your legs would become more toned, you probably wouldn’t lose all that much weight.

When people refer to a cardio machine, they just mean a machine that allows you to work your cardiovascular system (your heart). This includes an elyptical or stepper, a bike, or a treadmill. You don’t need a machine, though. Running and walking are great exercises, and you don’t need a treadmill to do them. Swimming is another great exercise.
