Nancy asks…

What are the warm-up and cool-down exercises that you should do before and after a long jogging session?

I jog for 4 kilometers daily and do some very basic stretching before and after. I want to know some good warm-up exercises that help get better weight loss results

Maricela answers:

Streching is a very important part of a warm up, also its good if u walk b4 u start to run, than walk fast, than run…. Also when u stop running to the same thing but backwards, walk fast, walk and than stretch.. It works a lot better.. Also if u wanna lose more weight, i know it sounds dumb but jumping jacks really worked for me… I lost a lot of weight doing them things.. Like a few hundred… Good luck with losing weight hun… 🙂

Lizzie asks…

How long until I see a difference in my body?

I am 18, 5’1 and 145 pounds, I gained a lot of weight this summer and I’ve decided to lose it. I want to lose about 30 pounds to have a goal of about 115 pounds. I have been working out and want to know how long will it be until I see a difference? Here’s what I’ve been doing:

– Treadmill (Walking/Jogging) for 20 – 30 minutes
– Elliptical Machine for 10 – 15 minutes (this machine is my least favorite!)
– Ab machines/Weighted Hula Hoops for 10 minutes
– & Stretching for 5 or so minutes.

A total of about 50 minutes 3 – 4 times a week. How does that sound? Anything to do to make my weight loss goal better?

Maricela answers:

Do easy weight lifting sessions 3 times a week in addition to what you are doing. Diet is crucial though. You can exercise all you want, but without a proper diet, its all wasted. You should look and feel better in as little as two weeks, but it may take quite a bit longer to get to where you were.

Helen asks…

how much weight will i loss walking 5 days out of a week for a hour?

and eating healthy(i walk/jog 3 miles 5 days out of a week) i want to stay thick, but i want to sculpt my body also. what else can i do to make the weight loss faster?

Maricela answers:

Limit high carb foods after about 6pm, also foods with high sugar and fat, instead eat high protein foods and fruit.

Walking is good but you should be training your whole body, see this page for a few simple workouts you can do in the home. Http://www.simple-workout-routines.com/exercise-programs.html

Training all of your muscles will be better for fat loss, as the more muscle you have the better your body is at burning fat.

Donna asks…

how much weight will eating only fruit let you lose?

Read this first please. So I want to lose about 10-15 pounds, I really do not like meat other thank like bacon lol, so fruit and vegetables are what I want to eat during this. I want to accomplish a good amount of weight loss by 2 weeks. Exercise that I would do would maybe be like 30-45 minutes of jogging, and/or 1 hour of walking. Answers with most information would be appreciated.

Maricela answers:

THe first thing you need to know is this: the key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you eat. A normal human burns about 2000 calories a day just by breathing and walking around. This is how much you need to eat to maintain a healthy weight because it ends up zeroing out at the end of the day. To gain weight, you try to end with a positive number by eating more than 2000, and to lose weight, you try to end with a negative number. This means eating less than 2000 calories every day, or exercising them off, so when your default 2000 are gone you are left with a negative number.

Fruit isn’t even that good for you. It has lots of sugar and carbs. It’s nutritious and has lots of important vitamins, but you might even get fat if that’s all you eat.

I suggest eating all green vegetables instead. Broccoli only has 30 calories in a serving, and it really fills you up. Celery actually has NEGATIVE calories because it takes your body energy to digest it. By eating only greens, you could be full and nourished on maybe just 200 calories a day or so, and you would lose weight very quickly.

At most grocery stores they sell microwave broccoli, which is what I get. You put the whole bag in the microwave for a minute and then it’s ready to eat! I like to put that popcorn flavoring stuff on it so it’s not boring or bland.

Beware of “ants on a log”, though… The peanut butter and raisins can end up adding up to hundreds of calories! Just eat them raw for the best results.

Your exercise plan sounds great. Good luck!

Betty asks…

What can I do to get the most out of this situation?

We just started a weight loss competition at my job. I weighed in at 224.4 We will weigh in on October 26th. The eating part is going great! But its the workout I am having trouble with. I only walk and jog 3 days out of the week. I don’t want to go to a gym because I am not ready. What can I do to get the most out of this situation and lose more weight than the other girls in a healthy way? Thanks!

Maricela answers:

The time of day you exercise will be your secret weapon. If you jog in the morning without eating first you will burn 300 percent more fat than jogging after eating. The reason is your body uses your fat reserves for energy and when you eat after the jog, the food will go to replenishing the nutrients. If you do it first thing in the morning, your body will have had at least 8 hours to metabolize the food that you had for dinner. If you eat before jogging, your body will use the energy from the food in the stomach and you may never burn the fat reserves.

It’s a simple thing that not too many people know and it will give you an insane advantage.

I love the idea of a weightloss competition, I once competed in an event to see who could swallow the most M&Ms in an hour. I was able to get down 2.5 gallons.

Good Luck I hope you win!!!
